During this year’s spring event at First Philadelphia Charter School, author C. Park spent two inspiring days visiting students from grades K–4 for a special author reading and interactive learning experience. The event gave students the opportunity to hear stories come to life while also learning what it takes to create and publish a book from start to finish.
Throughout the visit, students learned that writing a book begins with imagination, creativity, and confidence. C. Park shared the importance of believing in yourself, working hard, and understanding that you can accomplish anything you put your mind to. One of the biggest lessons of the event focused on helping and supporting others, reminding students that kindness and encouragement can make a lasting impact within their school and community.
The excitement throughout the school was undeniable as students eagerly participated in discussions, asked thoughtful questions, and connected personally with the stories being shared. The event also sparked a strong interest in reading, with the school placing a large book order while many students proudly purchased copies of the books on their own to continue reading at home.
Author visits like this create far more than just a reading session—they help strengthen the community. They encourage literacy, inspire creativity, build student confidence, and create meaningful connections between schools, families, and local authors. Experiences like these show students that books are powerful tools that can inspire dreams, teach valuable life lessons, and bring communities together through education and storytelling.
